Light Box Experiment

This work aimed to explore the variation of light on The glass Mobile piece. I had recently annealed the glass with accordance to guidance from a conversation with Gemma the glass technician. This was to make the glass less prone to explosion. Upon installation this piece collapsed under the pressure retained from the lattice structure , causing the shards to fall naturally ontop of the lightbox positioned below.

The sketch depicts the light box providing a base to display the layers of glass and acrylic. I feel this piece had minimal effect and the acrylic and glass were lost to the intensity of the light box. I feel that if the acrylic was opaque and slightly raised from the light box it would provide distinctive layers to the artwork and mimic the dissection of trellis wallpapers such as those produced by William Morris.
Trellis Iteration 4

By reusing my Large trellis from iteration 2 , I wanted to explore ways this piece could be suspended. The flimsy thin paper made for this piece to naturally slump in areas and it isnt structurally sound in this iteration, However it does the job at depicting the idea i had envisioned.
The piece didnt seem to get great feedback as i feel i struggle to comprehend the end goal for this work, this is something I think requires more research over coming weeks.
I think that to develop this further, I need to establish the finish quality of the piece and look at how I am fixing the sections together.
If this was to become a final piece as is, i feel its impact may be better draped over a plint. I think this could create texture to the plint and allow it to drape naturally around a post or point instead of being viewed as its intended triangular shape.

Glass Installation

This version of WHWTMS? Aimed to explore the fundamental idea behind the refraction of glass depicted above the spotlight. Whilst in Discussion with tutors, I felt the aim of this arrangement was lost due to factors such as the severity of the eggect, view of the glass and lack of importance.
Whilst exploring the role of the object, i feel in this specific environment its exsggeration as an illusionb piece is lost to the level of elevation and lack of effect made.
Further from this discussion, an inquiry was explored into the ambitious task of making the installation more immersive. In brief conclusion the movement of either glass or spotlight was decided for exploration into the material more due to its importance being underappreciated in this specific installation.

Post Mid Module review
After speaking to tutors about my next steps, I was urged to spend time exploring the glass as a material and to contextualise the pieces i had made with the spotlight i had used in the installation above. Due to the layering of colour on the spotlight, when projected onto the glass, it distorted the light and created a large immersive colour scene which I progressively documented below.
